Happy Thursday, everyone. It’s good to be back in Cookeville! I’m so thankful for Eric Edgemon and our teams leading well in my absence. Here’s what you need to know going into this weekend:
Reminder, choir and orchestra are not leading from the platform on Sunday.

Notes
Full worship ministry is back next week! Next Wednesday evening (7/26) at 6:00pm, we will have our annual worship ministry interest meeting, which serves as our first rehearsal of the new “season.” I am excited to see everyone again! Important: this year’s interest meeting will look a little different than years past, as we are postponing the potluck/cookout portion of the interest meeting until September. We are hoping that by having the cookout a little later in the year, the outside temperature might be a little more comfortable, and we’ll have more time then to fellowship instead of feeling rushed to get inside, prep for Sunday, address newcomers, and handle “beginning of the season” house-keeping details. There will be food for you next Wednesday, but you don’t need to bring anything except yourself and a friend that you invite!
Reminder: pick up a Fall listening CD in the choir room if you haven’t already. If you’d like me to put the songs on a jump drive for you, I’m happy to do that.
All of you serve so faithfully on Sunday mornings in worship ministry; have you ever considered serving in worship ministry on Sunday nights? We have a great team of volunteers that help with kids choirs, and this Fall, we are working on expanding our Sunday evening worship ministries to include middle/high school students. Having plenty of volunteers to pitch in is crucial to sustaining ministries like these. Would you pray about helping us in the Fall on Sunday evenings at 5:00p? Just let me or April know if you are interested.

An Extra
I just wanted to share a new song we’ll be singing in the Fall (and it’s on your listening CD): He Leadeth Me, an older hymn freshly arranged by Bradley Knight. It’s our plan to use this song with our kids choirs for MultiGen Sunday in September.
Composed by Joseph Henry Gilmore in 1862 (right in the middle of the Civil War), the text of this song is based on Psalm 23 (“He leadeth me by still waters…”).
I love the last stanza (“crossing the Jordan” is a way of speaking of death):
And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.
Below is a live recording of this song, which was part of a worship service of hymns at Thomas Road Baptist Church. There are lots of great songs in this video, but you’ll find this recording at around the 13:00 mark.
