Notes

  • This Sunday evening is Fall Fest, and there is a need for a few hands to help break down the event at the end. Men, if you are available, please call/text Dustin Rawls at 931-319-3626.

  • This Saturday (October 28) at 6:00p, the Stevens Street School of Performing Arts will be partnering with the Centre School of Dance and Peachtree Learning Center to present a special concert outdoors at Dogwood Park. This has been in the works for months, and it’s going to be a great event. I encourage everyone to bring a lawn chair and check it out!

  • As we announced last night, please mark your calendar for a special worship ministry end-of-the-year banquet in the Fellowship Hall on Monday evening, December 18. I think this will be something different that we’ll all enjoy, getting to eat and fellowship together (and have a little fun, of course).

  • Special opportunity: Stevens Street has been asked to provide some Christmas carolers for the SCTE PBS broadcast during the Cookeville Christmas parade on Saturday, December 9. This would be a small group of choir members (8-10 people), who would appear periodically on the live broadcast, which lasts about two hours. I’d love to fill this request for them if we can—please let me know if you’d like to help!

  • Reminder: our Christmas worship service is Sunday evening, December 10. In addition to that evening, the only other extra time commitments for you will be two extended Wednesday rehearsals on November 29 and December 6. Please plan to stay until 8:00 on those two evenings.

Prayer Requests

  • Paige Gazaway (alto), as she cares for two parents with Alzheimer’s.

  • Maleah Keith (alto), who had a PICC line put in this week to help her foot heal. This has been an ongoing issue for well over a year; pray for complete healing.

  • Maleah’s uncle, who has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and plans to forego treatment.

  • Carl & Megan Hodges (former members). Megan’s dad passed away suddenly on Sunday.

  • Betty Speck (soprano), as she cares for her husband, Vic.

  • Reagan Bagci and family (Ali, Michelle). Reagan’s platelets are low, so pray he won’t require blood products.

  • David Barrett, former choir member (cancer).

  • Pastor Scott, as he prepares to preach the Word on Sunday.

  • Looking to pray something specific for our church? Pray Ephesians 3:16-19.

An Extra

As promised, here’s one more “Reformation Day” resource for you: a video of a concert called “Glory to the Holy One,” featuring narration by the late R.C. Sproul. This is a fantastic collection of sacred music, but what I’d really like to draw your attention to begins at the 1 minute mark, where Sproul gives a brief summary of Luther’s story. I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch and listen.

May God give us the courage and grace to preserve the truth and beauty of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ today and in the days to come.
