Worship Ministry Weekly Update

June 10, 2023

Happy Saturday, everyone. It’s been a great week of VBS! Here’s what you need to know this weekend:

First, YES, choir is singing tomorrow!

Coming Up

This Sunday

Sermon text: 1 Corinthians 15:14, 17
It Was Finished Upon That Cross
Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor
O Lord, My Rock and My Redeemer
I Will Wait For You (Psalm 130)

Anthems coming up:

June 11: I Will Wait for You (Psalm 130)
June 18: We Will Remember
June 25: Impossible Things

Notes

  • This Sunday, we are singing our acapella anthem, I Will Wait for You (Psalm 130). I’ve missed being with you at rehearsals the past couple weeks, so I’m excited to hear you (and sing with you!).

  • Schedule reminder: in the month of June, we will have 6:00p Wednesday night rehearsals for praise team and band/orchestra only. Choir will continue to lead on Sunday mornings in June. In July, however, there will be no Wednesday rehearsals, and Sundays will be led by band/praise team only.

  • Our full worship ministry schedule will resume on Wednesday, July 26. Use the off time this Summer to invite someone new to join us in worship ministry!

  • As I mentioned, during the month of July, orchestra and choir will not lead from the platform on Sunday mornings. I’d like to invite any interested choir/orchestra members to take a Sunday or two to sit in the audio/video booth during worship. We can never have too many people who know how to click through lyrics on the computer, as we have opportunities to serve in that way come up all the time. If you’d like to take a Sunday to observe, just let me know and I can help get you that set up.

  • Ladies, be sure to pick up your copy of Women of the Word in the choir room if you haven’t already. There is actually a podcast that goes along with the book if you are interested; you can find info about that here. This would be a great Summer read for you!

An Extra

Thank you for your prayers for me and the team that just returned from South Asia. We had a wonderful and fruitful time, and I will include some reflections about the trip in next week’s update.

At the end of VBS week, I just wanted to be sure to mention how thankful I am to see so many worship ministry members serving in other ways besides our Sunday morning worship services. At VBS, I saw worship ministry members helping lead classes, teach music, run audio/video, and make crafts for kids. We have several members going on Impact trips this Summer. And when a random need around church comes up, I am proud to see many of you step up to serve quickly and joyfully.

I am grateful for and encouraged by your heart to look outside of Sunday/Wednesday music to help the body of Christ in our mission to make disciples. Thank you for having a vision of church membership that goes beyond our little silo of “worship ministry.” Keep it up!
