Notes

  • You’re invited to come with me and other worship ministry members to the Middle TN Regional Worship Summit, next Saturday, August 19 in Murfreesboro. This will go from 9:30a-2:30p. Your cost will be $20 (that goes down to $15 if we just get a couple more people signed up). More info (including a list of the breakout sessions) can be found here. If you are interested in going, please let me or April know no later than Sunday.

  • I’ve been so encouraged by the wonderful attendance we’ve had at rehearsals and services thus far. Thank you for your faithfulness and consistency—it helps us learn music faster and helps us grow together. I want to challenge you to keep it up, even when the Fall starts getting busy! Spiritual things aside, your physical presence at rehearsals and Sundays is the #1 way to make our worship ministry the best it can be, to the glory of God.

  • If you’ve got a few minutes and would like to help a church music researcher at Southern Seminary, you can fill out his online survey about congregational singing. This particular researcher is doing good work in helping seminaries, churches, and worship pastors see the landscape of music in Southern Baptist churches, including some alarming trends that need course correction.

Presenting my meager talents of clarinet to God. Music is a very important part of my life.

An Extra

If you didn’t catch it this Summer, our friends over at CityAlight released a new album of worship music with several great songs. CityAlight has been one of our go-to resources for new songs for our church because of their Christ-exalting, Gospel-centered lyrics, and remarkably singable melodies. These songs are great for kids and adults alike.

Here’s one new song from their album that also includes an older song I learned back as a kid in Vacation Bible School:
